When Goddesses Led The Dance

This post depicts an example of a Dance Your Life journey to show those who are curious about the dance the type of exercises involved.

Last Saturday, 13th April 2024, we gathered for the Dance Your Life event, "Earth's Abundance," in the Alphington Village Hall in Exeter. As we gathered in a circle, we began our journey by setting intentions for the session, invoking the energy of five #EarthGoddesses, #Gaia, #Pachamama, Dimu, Asase Yaa and Dilga, each one for each of the five continents. We briefly shared how we felt, did a brief meditation, and each one of us invoked a different Goddess.

The journey unfolded in distinct phases, each representing a facet of our connection to abundance and the Earth. We started the journey with a circle representing the oneness of the spirit world, and from there, we felt guided by our bodies to move towards the adventure of life through our birth.

Birth Phase

In the Birth phase, we lay down on our yoga mats, and rooted ourselves deeply, visualising roots extending into the earth and drawing nourishment from its depths. Through movement and breath, we connected with the Earth's energy, fostering a sense of stability and grounding.

Relationships

From horizontal to vertical, we stood and explore our bodily movements, as if we were discovering our bodies for the first time. Then, we symbolically planted seeds of abundance in different areas of our life (health, love, opportunities, spirituality, wealth...), nurturing their growth through movement.

Ego Faces - Embodying the Goddesses

As we danced with the Goddesses invoked earlier, we embraced their energies, embodying abundance in our movements and intentions.

Social Norms

The theme of Social Norms prompted us to break free from societal constraints, invoking the energy of Goddess Kali to release restrictions and embrace freedom. Through individual and group exercises, we expressed our desires for abundance and authenticity, shedding layers of inhibition and embracing our true selves.

Community

In the Community phase, we celebrated the abundance of movement within ourselves and the collective. Exploring uncommon movements and combinations, we expressed the richness of our individuality while finding unity in shared experiences. A Gaia Connection Circle allowed each participant to express their reverence for the Earth, amplifying their gestures in a powerful display of collective love.

Death

As the journey drew to a close, we prepared for the Death phase with love and acceptance, transitioning to yoga mats for a moment of reflection and surrender. With the soothing strains of "The Embrace," we embraced the final adventure with open hearts, knowing that each ending heralds a new beginning.

In our Closing Circle, we shared reflections on our experiences, connecting once again as a community united by our journey of abundance and renewal. As we departed, we carried with us the wisdom and energy of the Earth's abundance, ready to radiate it out into the world.

The "Earth's Abundance" Dance Your Life event was a testament to the transformative power of movement and intention, reminding us of the boundless abundance that surrounds us and the infinite potential within.
